Ad.ven.ture!!!

Last week our family loaded up the mini-van for a trip to Montana. We weren't quite sure what to expect from our Camp Bighorn Family Adventure Camp experience, but we looked forward to the adventures that awaited us.

Dictionary.com defines adventure this way:
ad·ven·ture

1. an exciting or very unusual experience.
2. participation in exciting undertakings or enterprises: the spirit of adventure.
3. a bold, usually risky undertaking; hazardous action of uncertain outcome.

Well, it was indeed an exciting and unusual experience. We participated in exciting undertakings that were bold and risky, and each day held uncertain outcomes.  And the best part was, we got to share these experiences together as a family while growing closer to our Maker together.

Our home for the week was a darling cabin nestled below huge rock mountains in the Lolo National Forest.
We arrived Monday evening in time for a tour of the grounds and a scrumptious dinner of Beef Stroganoff.  We dined with our own personal family guide, Abbie, who we adopted for the week as she accompanied us for all of our meals and adventures.  After each adventure, Abbie led us in a time of debriefing and reflecting on what God might be teaching us through our experiences.

At breakfast Tuesday morning, Abbie told us that our first adventure would begin at 10 a.m., that we might get wet and to dress appropriately.  It wasn't until we reached the river when we discovered our first adventure would be canoeing!

It was quite relaxing and enjoyable until the wind picked up and rocked the canoes!

I won't share all the details of our other adventures just in case YOU decide to go on an adventure camp someday. (If interested, see http://www.campbighorn.com)  I WILL tell you that our adventures included more fun on the Clark Fork River, rock climbing, hiking and ropes courses.  My kids really impressed me with their courage and willingness to try new things.  I am so incredibly thankful to the staff for their patience and care for our family.  And thanks to Almighty God for blessing us with this ad.ven.ture!

It was truly an adventure with memories that will last a lifetime.  Thank you, Camp Bighorn!
