Inspired by Red Robin
Recipe for 2 burgers: Be sure to begin at least 5 hours before you want to eat!
Teriyaki marinade
1 ¾ c water
1 c soy sauce
1 c light brown sugar
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp garlic powder
2 ground beef patties (1/4-1/3 lb patties – I mixed 1 lb ground beef with garlic salt, pepper and bread crumbs and divided into 3 patties)
4 canned pineapple slices
4 slices cheddar cheese
2 hamburger buns
mayo
4 tomato slices
shredded iceberg lettuce
1. Combine ingredients for marinade in small saucepan over med-high heat. Bring to boil then reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Cover and chill marinade for at least 30 minutes.
2. Pour a little of the teriyaki marinade in a bowl then put hamburger patties in, cover with teriyaki, a piece of wax paper, more teriyaki, other patty and more teriyaki. Refrigerate for 4-12 hours.
3. BBQ or Broil hamburger patties 3-5 minutes per side to desired doneness. When you flip the burgers, add the pineapple slices to the grill. About a minute before burgers are done, top with 2 slices cheddar each.
4. Toast face of buns in skillet, then coat with mayo. Build burger with: Bottom bun, burger w/cheese, tomatoes, pineapple, shredded lettuce. Enjoy!
