Inspired by a local cafe

OK, so my church friends are probably asking, "Where have you been, Erin?" But if I didn't know, I know there are many others who don't, so I want to share what amazed me about the Organic Comfort Food Cafe in downtown Puyallup.

I have had a passion for missions since I was 12 years old and went on a VBS mission to a tiny little town in Idaho. I've since had the privilege of serving in short-term missions on the streets of Seattle, the Hispanic community of Yakima, Jamaica, Venezuela and Mexico. In Jamaica I discovered that, when you experience God in another culture, you get a glimpse of just how big God is. I could hardly wait for others to experience the same thing. A few years ago I struggled with my desire to be involved in missions, yet knowing I couldn't GO often because my main job in life right now is raising my kids. That's when God taught me that I could be a missionary in my own backyard. Literally through backyard VBS, also through reaching out to the community in MOPS, and through supporting an orphan in Romania. Even by saying God bless you to the grocery bagger at Safeway!

So how does that relate to a cafe, you ask? Check out the following article that I read today while at the chiropractor's. I am in awe. A cafe with a purpose to support missions in the name of Christ. Wow! I immediately drove from the chiropractor to downtown Puyallup in hopes of getting a treat for Bryn and me in order to support them, but got there too early - I discovered that they are open from 11-3 Monday through Saturday. I can hardly wait to try it out!

I just read everything I could on the cafe website. I can't wait to try their bread pudding - my favorite comfort food. Next time I'm in Puyallup let's plan to get a treat there.
