A few days ago, I woke up early at our family cabin, thanks to my sweet little 3-year old. As I walked outside to the deck and looked out at the beautiful sunrise, I expressed my sorrow to the Lord that I had not spent much time with Him the past few days. Being in a relationship with Jesus is the most important thing to me, and growing closer in a relationship means I have to spend time talking and listening. With our busy summer days, I admit I've slacked on that a bit lately. So, as I looked out at the sunrise, I asked, "God, is there anything you want to tell me right now?" And then I really saw it. The sun was shining brightly, yet even bigger and brighter was the sun's reflection in the lake below. We know the sun is big, but what we see most is it's reflection. Jesus is the Son of God, and though I can not see Him, I know He is bigger and better than anything I can imagine. In that moment, God gave me grace - yes, He wants me to spend time with Him. Just as important, He wants me to reflect Him. So my prayer is that when people look at me, they will see Jesus. I pray they will see His love and the joy He has blessed me with. I pray they will see my hope, and that they will want it to. I pray that as I life out my life, I will reflect the Son.
