The short story: we sold our house in 11 days and are moving in mid-June!
The longer story for those who love the details: We started looking at houses 2 years ago, and made offers on a couple different houses that didn't work out. Every few months Josh would get the itch to get online and look at houses for sale. Well, we found this house just before leaving for our Disneyland trip. Josh and I prayed about it and put our trust in the fact that God could make it happen if He wanted to, so we decided to dive in and give it a try. The crazy part was that we actually made the offer while we were in Disneyland, thanks to fax machines and Josh's cousin in CA who printed the offer from Josh's e-mail then brought it to us at Disney's California Adventure (Thanks Chris!). I remember riding on the teacups at Fantasyland and seeing Josh talking with our realtor on his cell phone. Turned out that our offer was rejected because it was contingent on selling our house, which wasn't even on the market yet. So, we returned home deciding that this had given us the kick in the rear we needed to get our house ready to sell. Josh went to work for the next 14 days while I worked on packing up extra stuff all over the house and piling it up in the garage. Then during Josh's 7 days off, he did some painting, weeding and miscellaneous fixing, we cleaned thoroughly, then put our house on the market on April 24th. We prayed daily for God's will in this, and we prayed that if this was what God wanted for us, that He would move quickly. Wow, did He answer that prayer! People came to look at the house nearly every day, then we got an offer on our house after it had been on the market only 11 days. Hurray God!
Not only did we get an offer, but we got the number Josh and I had agreed we wanted to make on our current home. And the closing date the buyers were asking for was June 15th, the first day of Josh's next 14 days off. Praise the Lord! The same day we signed the papers on the sale of this home, we turned around and made an offer on the house we wanted while we were in Disneyland...and our offer was accepted! Now we have had the inspections done and are just waiting for the paperwork to go through. If all goes smoothly, we'll start moving on June 15th!
